Hi, I’m Josie Thompson. Growing up, drawing was my escape from the world.
I have always believed in pursuing my dreams by the old adage,
‘If you love what you do,
you’ll never work a day in your life.’
After earning an AA in Advertising Design, followed by a BFA in Communication Arts,
I put in 10 years at a small design firm. But the entrepreneurial spirit was in my blood;
my father, grandfather, and much of my family owned their own businesses. I left the
firm with invaluable experience and forged my own path.
My clients find that I respect their professions and treat their success as my own.
All the material I create for them is theirs to keep. I do not surprise them by raising prices
if a project takes longer than expected. I will work on their projects until they are
completely happy. I do these things because client relationships built on trust and respect
are very important to me.
There is integrity, honesty, and quality in everything that I do. Because of these core values
that I hold, my company has endured for over 25 years, starting as Thompson Design,
and now continuing on as Josie Designs. I am happy to carry on my work from
Ellicott City, MD with my husband and two children.
My journey as an entrepreneur has enriched my life in more ways than I could have
imagined. The people I have met and moments I have experienced are priceless. I truly
would not be able to do the things I do today without the help, love, and support of those
around me.

Josie is a true advocate of her culture and her community. The amount of time and love Josie puts into her work does not go unappreciated or unnoticed. Josie has been honored with several awards for her entrepreneurship and community involvement. Most notably, in 2006 she received the Baltimore Washington Corridor Chamber President’s Award. And in both 2009 and 2012, Josie was recognized in the Top 100 by the Minority Business Enterprise.
